There are facilities for interview studies both at the unit and online, including recording (audio-visual).
Clinical Epidemiology and Biostatistics provides epidemiological and biostatistical support and resources for medical and health research.
The unit includes clinical, medical and social epidemiologists, biostatisticians and a bioinformatician. Clinical Epidemiology and Biostatistics offers advice and collaboration, project suggestions, supervision for students in project such as psychiatric disease, cancer, gastroenterology, surgery, obstetrics and gynaecology, Infectious disease, nephrology, diabetes and endocrinology, pulmonary disease.
To fulfill legal aspect in the patient data law, a facility for patient data export is availible. The data is mostly pseudonymised but the facility also provide print-outs from patient journals. The facility also provides data for feasibility studies from life science industry.
Centre for Assessment of Medical Technology in Örebro (CAMTÖ) is a centre serving the whole of Örebro County Council, commissioned to promote Evidence Based Medicine and to act as an advisory body within the County Council in matters related to Health Technology Assessment.
The centre is both multiprofessional and interdisciplinary and comprises doctors, nurses, physiotherapists, an occupational therapist and administrative personnel, all of whom spend part of their time working at CAMTÖ.
Clinical trials unit is a facility placed at the University hospital. The facility is a part of the national infrastructure for clinical research and have collaborations with universities, healthcare regions, medical devices companies and pharmaceutical industry.
The facility provides support to the whole process of clinical trials, such as write and review study protocol, project management and coordination and monitoring and quality assurance. The unit also offer GCP certified courses.
The Clinical Research Laboratory is an open infrastructure with laboratory facilities and related equipment. The facility provides competence as well as equipment in the areas of histology and morphology, cell and virus culturing (BLS2-level), microbiology, cytokine analyses including ELISpot, flow cytometry including cell sorting, and molecular biology.
The department has an infrastructure and expertise in occupational and environmental medicine, behavioural science, environmental science, analytical chemistry. In addition, the facility provides biological and technical sampling, biomonitoring, chemical analysis and risk assessment.
Laboratory for surgical research and education and staffed by research nurses and a director. Fully organized for translational research including: operating tables, ventilators, respiratory and central hemodynamic monitors, blood flow monitors, bedside blood gas analyzer, centrifuge for blood samples, microdialysis analyzer, computerized data collection system and fluoroscopy.
University Health Care Research Centre (UFC) is a multidisciplinary and multiprofessional research infrastructure and research-supporting center. The facility offers scientific guidance and supervision, method support in health economy, qualitative methods, psychometrics, measuring physical activity, etc. Administrative services are also available such as transcription, accessing research data from medical charts, data management and project assistance.
A platform between Region Örebro Län, municipality in Örebro and Kumla (two nursing homes) and Örebro University that should enhance collaboration in clinical research, academic education and healthcare for older persons living in a nursing home.
The infrastructure includes a MR scanner that is equipped to enable various types of MR examinations required in different clinical research projects. The MR system allocated for research is integrated with the Department of radiology at Örebro university hospital in order to support clinical research. There is a lab adjacent to the facility for basic laboratory work and preparing samples and office with bookable desks is available nearby the scanner for researchers.
For 3D-printing a PolyJet-printer with high resolution and the ability to mix different plastic materials and colours is available for research. In addition, a single material FDM-printer with a slightly different spectrum of print materials is available.
GMC Örebro is one of seven regional nodes of Genomics Medicine Sweden (GMS). The aim of GMS is to implement new diagnostic methods, using next generation sequencing, in the health care. In parallel with clinical implementation, genomics research is ongoing. The facility is used for molecular diagnostics in cancer, infectious disease, rare disease and complex diseases.
Clinical genomics Örebro is a regional node within the SciLife platform, Clinical genomics. Clinical genomics offers services for translational research all the way from study design to data generation, data analysis and clinical interpretation of the results. Additionally, it is a platform for technical development in molecular diagnostics.
Partnership for Precision Medicine (PPMC) is a national infrastructure. The local node PPMC Örebro started in collaboration between Region Örebro län, Örebro University, Region Värmland and RCC Uppsala Örebro. The main objective for PPMC as a facility is to support cancer research, e.g. by coordinating the collection of clinical data and samples. The initial focus is precision medicine, aiming at improving tools for diagnosis and treatment of lung cancer.
